Nike named visualization coach Maya Raichoora its first "mental fitness trainer" in 2024, a partnership that followed her Instagram account past 600,000 followers. That audience is now the foundation for a monthly live event she says will outlast her social posts.
Speaking at a creator-marketing forum hosted by MKTG Sports + Entertainment and Rising Ballers, Raichoora told attendees: "I do think the future is going to be in real life." She credits the visualization exercises in her short-form videos with helping her walk again after years in hospital — the personal story that underpins both her Nike deal and her pull with followers.
Raichoora says she is deliberately moving her community off Instagram, the platform that built her reach, and into in-person gatherings. For sponsors evaluating the trade-off, the signal is concrete: an event series tied to a verified creator fanbase can deliver attendance data and dwell-time signals that algorithmic feeds cannot.
What does the shift change for brand budgets?
IRL activations carry costs a sponsored post does not — venue rental, production, insurance, ticketing infrastructure. They also produce harder metrics: brands can count bodies in seats, log session length, and capture first-party data through on-site registration. For mental fitness and adjacent wellness categories, where trust and physical presence drive purchase decisions, the per-impression cost can justify the line item.
What does the format give creators?
A monthly event creates a recurring revenue stream, a direct channel to the most engaged segment of a fanbase, and a portfolio asset that a feed post cannot match. For Nike and similar partners, the activation also provides proof-of-engagement data they can carry into renewal conversations.
The risk is concentration. A creator who moves her audience to a single monthly venue exposes the business to weather, local turnout variance, and the operational drag of producing live shows every 30 days. The upside, if Raichoora's bet holds, is a defensible revenue line that does not depend on any single platform's algorithm.
She told the MKTG and Rising Ballers audience that her event series will carry the next stage of her career. If her followers follow her off the feed, sports and wellness marketers will spend 2025 testing whether live creator events graduate from proof-of-concept to a standard budget category.
