Meta has named Dhruv Vohra Managing Director of its Global Business Group for Southeast Asia, putting a seven-year company veteran in charge of commercial strategy across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. He reports to Benjamin Joe, Vice President for Asia Pacific.
Vohra will lead the teams that partner with the region's advertisers and agencies, with a stated mandate to help businesses "innovate with AI and accelerate growth" across Meta's family of apps. He will also work to deepen Meta's partnerships across the region.
The appointment signals where Meta sees its next phase of commercial growth in Asia. "Southeast Asia is one of Meta's fastest-growing business regions, and the work ahead is helping businesses leverage AI and messaging at the pace their customers already expect," Joe said in the official announcement. "Dhruv has spent seven years close to those businesses, and he has built the teams that support millions of them. He is the right person for this next phase."
That framing matters for practitioners. Meta is explicitly tying the leadership change to two product pillars — AI-powered advertising tools and messaging platforms — rather than to a broader portfolio pitch. For advertisers and agencies operating in the six markets, expect account teams to push AI-driven ad solutions and conversational commerce formats harder under the new leadership.
Vohra is not a newcomer to the region's commercial engine. He joined Meta in 2019 as Director for e-commerce and digital natives, working with the platforms that reshaped how the region shops online. He then led small and medium business growth in Southeast Asia before expanding that remit to head the SMB Group across all of Asia Pacific. The new role returns him to the region where he started at the company.
His background suggests continuity rather than a strategic reset. Vohra built his career at Meta around SMB monetization and e-commerce — segments that form the backbone of Southeast Asia's digital economy, where small sellers increasingly transact through messaging apps and social storefronts rather than standalone e-commerce sites.
Beyond his operating roles, Vohra has been a public face for Meta's regional thought leadership. He authors a regular LinkedIn newsletter, Small to Scale: Inside APAC's Innovative SMBs, chronicling how businesses in the region have changed how they sell. He was also a key contributor to Meta's SYNC Southeast Asia series on the digital consumer landscape and e-commerce trends across the region.
For brands and agencies in Southeast Asia, the immediate practical implications are limited — the announcement does not include any policy, pricing, or product changes. But leadership transitions at this level often precede shifts in how regional commercial teams prioritize ad products and partner programs. Vohra's track record points to SMB-focused, AI-and-messaging-led commercial plays as the likely center of gravity for Meta's Southeast Asia business going forward.
